Middle Falls on Falls River
The Falls is a picturesque stream that has been run by expert kayakers numerous times. As a whitewater stream, it rates a class 4+ on the International Scale of River Difficulty. There is commonly three sections of waterfalls at this location. The Upper Falls, Lower Falls, and Middle Section.
Things to Do Near Falls River
Baraga County sits along the shores of Keweenaw Bay at the entrance to the Copper Country. Baraga County Historical Museum, Ojibwa Casino, great fishing, snowmobiling, and outdoor recreation offers plenty for your exploration.
Check out the Shrine of Bishop Baraga that overlooks the majestic bay. Play a round of golf at the L’Anse Golf Club. Explore Craig Lake State Park for fishing, canoeing, or kayaking. Plenty of camping at the Ojibwa Park and Campground or at the L’Anse Township Park and Campground.
The Sandy Point Lighthouse is a great additional to the Copper Country Lighthouse Tour. Up for an adventure, how head out for a hike at Silver Mountain.

Information and Directions to Falls River
The Falls River is a 5.1-mile-long (8.2 km) stream that drains Baraga County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the United States, and flows into Lake Superior in the community of L’Anse. Its name derives from the fact that it flows over slate bedrock with a gradient (rate of descent) that increases as it nears its mouth, cascading over numerous slate waterfalls. Over its course it drops 150 feet in elevation.
Upper Falls at Falls River
The first drop in the river starts at the Upper Falls portion as it flows out of a group of houses in L’Anse. This is a beautiful scenic falls as it drops into a lovel wide pool, as a railroad trestle sits below.
Middle Falls at Falls River
The main drop and most popular of the three sections is the Middle Falls.
Lower Falls at Falls River
This section is a long, sloped wild slide. An old cement dam that is still in the river forms a fun section.
