"Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." (Exodus 20: 12)
Commanded: Loving and serving your "superiors" and also your inferiors and equals in the manner which God requires.
If you are not yet an adult:
1. Do you carefully listen to your parents' instruction? Do you do what they say? obey even in "small things."
2. Do you quietly, submissively accept their correction and punishments?
3.
Do you realize that God has set your parents over you? that they
have every right to tell you what do to? that God has given them to you
not only to give you what you think you need, but also to set you on
the right course (from God's Word)? that the teaching and training they
give you will be good for you in years to come?
If you are a wife:
1.
Do you put your husband's wishes first? cheerfully abide by his
decisions? Do you strive (from the heart) to please him? to serve him?
to be a scriptural "help-meet" to him? to "back him up" to encourage
him?
2. Do you let him know that you are please with him?
3. Do you constantly dwell on your husband's good points? In love, do you cover over his weak points?
How do you treat those that are your superiors in age?
1. Do you grant them special courtesy and respect?
2. Do you listen to them? consider their advice based on their experience?
3. Do you try to make them realize that they are useful and needed?
What about your relationship not only to the above, but to all others whom God has placed over you: such as employers, police, governors, and pastors?
1. In your heart, do you highly esteem all your "superiors"? Do your words and actions show it?
2. Do you willingly, cheerfully obey their directions or commands?
3. Do you submit to their corrections? serve them?
