Gift of Piety
Permanent
capacity to receive the light of Jesus' piety - His habit of mentally
identifying with the Father and with each of us - so that we can use it
to make acts of, and develop habits of, supernatural piety. These
acts and habits enable us to identify with God and each of our
neighbors in God's Kingdom of Love - to see God as my Father and myself
as His son or daughter; Jesus as my Brother and Redeemer; etc.
Virtue of Charity/Love
Permanent
capacity to receive the power of Jesus' love and self-giving, so that
we can use it to make acts of, and develop habits of, supernatural
charity. By these acts and habits we can always say "Yes" to Him
and to all He wants to give us and ask of us. This "Yes" allows
Jesus to begin living in us and allows us to live in Him.
Capital Sin: Lust
Lust
is a kind of false love. It causes alienation and isolation from
others, and prevents real love of God, self, and neighbor. Lust
addicts us to illicit sexual gratification as a cheap substitute for
authentic Christian friendship and unselfish affectionate love.
