"So God created man in his own image" (Genesis 1: 27)
"For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourished and cherished it..." (Ephesians 5: 29)
"A wrathful man stirs up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeases strife." (Proverbs 15:18)
"But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." (Psalm 37:11)
Question yourself:
1. As much as in
your power, do you do what you can to protect and preserve the health,
strength, and life of your family? yourself? others?
2. If you
are justly angry (against wrong), do you channel your energy engendered
by anger to lovingly correct the problem? focus your anger at solving
the problem, not attacking a person? Do you rebuke in a gentle
manner?
3. Rather than harbor resentment or bitterness, do you
go directly and quickly to the person who has slandered or wronged
your? quietly, humbly seek to "smooth troubled waters"? Do you strive
to settle the issue before nightfall? Do you make it a practice
to go to bed with thoughts of forgiveness toward anyone that may have
mistreated you? (Ephesians 4:26)
4. Do you habitually practice
patience and encourage others to do the same? Through faithful
Bible study, prayer, and meditation, do you cultivate quietness of
mind, submission?
5. Do you deliberately set out to be
cheerful? think upon all of God's many blessings? think upon the good
points of others? think upon: "whatsoever things are of good report: if
there is any virtue, and if there be any praise..." ( Phil. 4:8)
