"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or
any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the
earth beneath; or that is in the water under the earth; Thou shalt not
bow down thyself to them, nor serve them, for I the Lord thy God am a
jealous God." (Exodus 20:4-5a)
Commanded: Loving God in spirit and truth, glorying in His name, and worshiping Him in the manner which He requires in His Word.
1. How well do you grasp the truth that God is a Spirit?
2. Do you really know how to pray? Do you know what Christ and the Scriptures teach you on the subject? that Christ is your mediator? (1 Tim. 2:5) Do you apply what you know? If you know you are His, do you come to Him, boldly, directly?
3. When you worship, is it with your whole being? Do you enter into worship with your mind and will as well as emotions?
4. In your own mind do you make up an image of God as being like mere man and worship it? Do you think of God only as a servant (to comfort you and give you your desires) when you worship Him? Do you create a god of your own liking, for example, one that is only a god of love and takes sin lightly?
